Festive Christmas Hampers to families in need
For most people, the Christmas season means time with family and friends, exchanging gifts and enjoying a festive meal together. However, for some people, the Christmas holiday is not a joyful experience. Many people do not have the financial resources to meet day-to-day needs, so a festive meal is beyond their imagination. Christmas Lunch on Jesus changes that.
Christmas Lunch on Jesus in Merton started in 2012. CLOJ helps local churches to make Christmas hampers for members of the community who are in desperate need at Christmas time. The hampers are packed with all Christmas goodies including a turkey, stuffing, carrots, brussel sprouts, potatoes, gravy, Christmas pudding, chocolates and non-alcoholic wine. Working closely with the Merton Council and other local agencies,
Doxa Deo Community Church leads the fundraising and distribution of more than 500 festive hampers to needy families every year.
